Re: [tlug] Erratic Rsync Behavior: Coping with Multi-Booting Effects on Time-keeping

So I checked around and (please correct me if I am wrong) it seems

is the culprit here, but since I have made no changes or reinstalls
of Windows in a couple of years, but have indeed reinstalled Debian
recently (pretty close to the time of the start of this problem) and
have updated Sid recently, I am guessing the problem is in Linux.

I'm not trying to take sides between Linux/Windows :-), but I think it would be more correct to say that the problem lies with Linux because Windows is inflexible... I have a vague feeling that was the conclusion I had reached a while back.

Perhaps Vista or Windows 7 has improved the situation...I'm not sure. And I guess you don't want to look into these options...

I doubt that Sid would break this, actually. I mean, it seems like such a basic function, I doubt that it changes anymore across Debian releases. More likely, upgrading to Sid introduced a new default configuration file in /etc that broke what you had before. If you have a backup of your old /etc, you could check for differences between time-related configuration files...

I'm just thinking aloud...but if you don't care too much about your Windows time, is there some timezone you could set your Windows machine to that would fix this problem? i.e., pretend your Windows' side is in the UK, for example. Of course, this ought to be a last option -- there should be a better one on the Debian side.
