Apparently not, thinkpad x200 bought in germany,
'Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 5100 AGN':

# rmmod iwlagn iwlcore mac80211
# rmmod cfg80211
# modprobe cfg80211 ieee80211_regdom=JP
# modprobe iwlagn
# dmesg|less
[ 8583.343224] cfg80211: Calling CRDA to update world regulatory domain
[ 8583.343248] cfg80211: Calling CRDA for country: JP
[ 8583.368676] cfg80211: Regulatory domain changed to country: JP
# ifconfig wlan0 up
# iwconfig wlan0 channel 11
# iwconfig wlan0 channel 14
Error for wireless request "Set Frequency" (8B04) :
SET failed on device wlan0 ; Invalid argument.

Either i made a mistake here in configuring, or there are chipset-
variants (or restrictions on the hardware), facilitated for Europe
and Asia.
