Just the same. To remove network manager there are various ways, but the
very-GUI way I do it is:
  System|Administration|Synaptic manager. Then search on Name (only) for
"network-man", and "mark for complete uninstall" any packages that are
currently installed.

Make sure you know how to configure /etc/network/interfaces beforehand
though; 'cos once you remove network-manager you can't google any more ;-)
