Re: [tlug] Flash and Firexfox 2

Hi Jim:

I'd sort-of decided to become a Debian person next time I changed, and
my experience with the EeePc and its etch-based Xandros has been pretty
positive in terms of the "apt-get update" and "apt-get install yaddayadda"
experience.

I remember when you first made your move to Fedora, because you mentioned you were looking for a new distro at the same time that I was (perhaps we were both being pushed out of Red Hat at the time because of their policy changes?).

Anyway, at that time, I moved to (straight) Debian, and that's where I've been ever since. I've dabbled with various Debian derivatives from time to time, such as Mepis, Knoppix, (K)Ubuntu, and so forth. I don't want to get into a debate with the Ubuntu crowd, but personally, I've always had problems getting Ubuntu set up right, and yet had no problems with Straight Debian. For instance, on a few of my machines, I was never able to get (K)Ubuntu to do proper screen resolutions, where the Debian install did it automatically.

I know different people will have different experiences, but that's mine.

Chuck
