Found a way to reveal the drive model enclosed in usb boxes:
smartctl -a -d sat,12 -T permissive /dev/sdX
or
smartctl -a -d sat,16 -T permissive /dev/sdX
Will only work if your case supports ATA passthrough.

A OneTouch 4 bought on 1st third of 2008 encloses the 7200.10 series. Recent 
ones really might include faulty series.
