Sure.

Yup, that is where Ubuntu's automounter is. You can find out what the
/dev node is by:

sudo tail -f /var/log/messages
# insert the USB device
# look for a /dev/sd? entry

That would make sense. My card reader grabs sda-sdd on insert, since
it has four card slots. When you insert a card, partitions show up,
like /dev/sda1.

Try tailing /var/log/messages as described above when inserting a
card. See if you can tell which device it becomes. Then run "sudo
fdisk -l /dev/sdd" (changing sdd to whatever the device node actually
is).
