If Ubuntu sets up ide-scsi emulation then yes, kind of. It's a kernel
feature that's set up by many distros - although it's more or less
unnecessary with the 2.6.x family of kernels and recent versions of
cdrecord and dvd+rw-tools driving MMC-compliant IDE CD and DVD drives.
