lftp also comes with lftpget which can be used for non-interactive ftp
downloads.

Also, since it is a cli client you can quite easily use it with expect
to automate the whole deal :)

Another good thing about lftp is that it can handle connections to an
ftps server that has both data and control channels secured. This was
the reason why I started using lftp.
