Well, it is not an academic paper. He has a title and a conclusion.

With a title and a abstract, the readers will know what
they are going to read.

I just don't want to read 10 A4 pages and finally found that
the article is all about what I already know.

If I were you, I will cut 70% of text.
Just think of if one should have time to read 10 A4 pages - I don't.

Dave seems to be happy with the length, and it took me 15 minutes to read it, which I did not think was unreasonable. I guess a non-native speaker of English might take twice as long, but 30 minutes is still doable; print it out and read it on the train. :)

Like Dave said, it is a trade off between brevity and readability.
The point is that if the article long, the readers will be hard to
find out what the author wants to say.
