Old, but I still like that story. But my favourite part was reading in a new light the "I live 45 miles from Google" response. Obviously not a guy who lives in a world where pretty much everyone has 100 Mbps fiber.

One of my servers, to another on the same ISP:

64 bytes from 58.81.178.245: icmp_seq=0 ttl=251 time=7.742 ms

But it's terrible when you go to a different ISP!

64 bytes from 203.141.153.22: icmp_seq=0 ttl=243 time=10.930 ms

Oh, the humanity!
