Many are, when it comes to the tech. industry rags. Keep in mind, they're in an extremely competitive industry, so you've got to work hard to cut costs.

As well, people in the tech. industry tend to stick with stuff that
confirms their biases, so many publications are going to have a basic
line they take that moves slowly, so as not to make their current
customers feel uncomfortable.

But it gets much, much worse. Check out this expose of a hosting service
