warranty!

Why not buy the parts and build the machine yourself? There will be
warranties on all the individual parts, you can choose what you put in
and thus optimize Linux compatibility, and you usually get more bangs
for the buck^W man.

I think you're right.  I've gotten very used to swapping parts in and out of different boxes, but have never actually put together all the pieces right from the start.  I suppose it's time that I did that!
