(1) RMS disagrees with you.  The FSF-sanctioned translation is 自由ソ
フトウエア, as far as I know.

(2) The battle has long since been lost.  The definition of フリーソフ
ト has been "download without pay" for a decade.  Check out Sharp's
Zaurus sites for example.
