[tlug] LAN card install

Hi,

asus p5b-vm on board motherboard doesn't work
google indicates a common problem
perhaps 2.6.19_rc may fix it

for 2.6.18, I gave up and disabled it in bios

got a corega cg-lapcitx lan card with "Linux" written on the box.

(also have a logitec lan-tx/pci I could try but ... only if the corega
doesn't want to cooperate)

How do I set it up?

1) put it in
2) ? configure how. I deleted all hardware and device entries and
rebooted and the following is what was detected.

below is modprobe.conf, /var/log/messages | grep eth0,
and /var/log/messages | grep 8139 (which is the presumed driver)

Here is modprobe.conf
alias scsi_hostadapter ahci
alias scsi_hostadapter1 ata_piix
alias scsi_hostadapter2 usb-storage
alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel
options snd-card-0 index=0
options snd-hda-intel index=0
remove snd-hda-intel { /usr/sbin/alsactl store 0 >/dev/null 2>&1 || : ; }; /sbin/modprobe -r --ignore-remove snd-hda-intel
alias eth0 8139too
alias peth0 8139too

[note: there was an "option 8139too" line before alias which I took out
since it was throwing errors. Don't think it's relevant]

/var/messages | grep eth0 shows:
