I agree. The addresses should be obfuscated beyond repair. It's unlikely
anyone could come up with a munging algorithm that legit users of varying
technical prowess could easily decipher that would also block spammers.

If someone has a follow-up on an archived thread, it should be posted to
the list anyway. If they have a legitimate reason to contact a single
member on an archived topic, I'd rather the request still go on the list.
After all, the original thread was on the list, no? If the individual in
question is no longer a subscriber and the request seems legitimate, I'm
sure someone with access to the server could easily retrieve the original
poster's email if it's really necessary.
