It's a common misconception that RAID eliminates the need for backups.

It's also necessary to _practice_ recovery from those backups.

Big hard drives in an old clunker PC at a friend's house connected to the internet, accessed only by ssh. rsync -e ssh is your friend.

I would use some external device over firewire or usb2.0 which can handle that much of data. then store that thing at a friends house or where ever (not in the same location as your raid - a fire would kill the backup as well) and do the backup once or twice a week…
