Re: [tlug] Upgrading the kernel...?

TLUG,

So far, not so good it seems.

I got as far as doing this:
make-kpkg -initrd --revision=386 kernel_image kernel_headers modules_image

And then, after it ran for not quite an hour, I got these errors:

make[5]: *** [/usr/src/modules/ivtv0.4/msp3400.o] Error 1
make[4]: *** [_module_/usr/src/modules/ivtv0.4] Error 2
make[4]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux-2.6.17.7'
make[3]: *** [all] Error 2
make[3]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/modules/ivtv0.4'
make[2]: *** [binary-modules] Error 2
make[2]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/modules/ivtv0.4'
make[1]: *** [kdist_build] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/modules/ivtv0.4'
Module /usr/src/modules/ivtv0.4 failed.
Hit return to Continue
...
make[8]: *** [/usr/src/modules/wacom/src/2.6.14/wacom.o] Error 1
make[7]: *** [_module_/usr/src/modules/wacom/src/2.6.14] Error 2
make[7]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux-2.6.17.7'
make[6]: *** [all] Error 2
make[6]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/modules/wacom/src/2.6.14'
make[5]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[5]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/modules/wacom/src'
make[4]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1

make[2]: *** [binary-modules] Error 2
make[2]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/modules/wacom'
make[1]: *** [kdist_image] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/modules/wacom'
Module /usr/src/modules/wacom failed.

It said "hit return to continue" after the Wacom module failed, and then went back to the prompt.

There are no .deb files in /usr/src/linux, so I assume that means the kernel failed to build entirely.

I don't even want it to be making an ivtv0.4 module, as IVTV has to be version 0.6 to be compatible with a 2.6.17 kernel. (Hmmm... can I build the IVTV 0.6 module into the kernel then?)

As for the Wacom, I have no idea why it's dying or what to do about it. Obviously I need and want Wacom support.

Can anyone tell me what to do about these?
