Wasn't it Evan Monroig who suggested reverting the cups packages?

While reverting to an older package in the same major version of a
distribution might be a regular occurrence updating between major
versions of a distribution is not something to do lightly. The problem
would appear to be the proprietary Canon driver having problems with the
newer glib? wont you need to revert the glib and cups to get it
working? If this is the case, and considering the incomparability
between the glib versions it would not be a good idea to try reverting
packages ( i.e. you might end up fixing cups and killing other random
packages that rely on the newer glib).
