Re: [tlug] At my wits end and completely desperate (wacom problem)

TLUG,

My offer still stands that if anyone thinks they can, I will pay them to come and help me get this Wacom tablet working.

In the meantime, the onlist and offlist messages I have received have convinced me I should at least keep trying to get things to work and to seek assistance.

So, to present my situation, here is all the relevant data I can think of:

I am trying to install my Wacom Graphire3 tablet, on Ubuntu Dapper
Drake 6.04. I'm intending my tablet to be my only interface device other
than my keyboard. I have no PS/2 or other mouse devices attached to my
computer.

Right now it seems that the main issue is that Ubuntu is using both mouse drivers and Wacom drivers to control my tablet. As mentioned, I don't have any other mouse device (attaching one doesn't help, I tried). The mouse drivers are winning, as the control and functionality associated with the tablet are not available. I can move the mouse cursor, but not set the movement mode to "relative" as desired, nor control anything like mouse speed, pen orientation, or anything else.

It is also unclear if the Wacom driver is actually properly installed. When Ubuntu boots up, it says "Doing Wacom Setup... ok". But there is no wacom.o file, or wacom.ko file present anywhere (I think these are driver files... that's the impression I got from the Linuxwacom site).

Anyway... perhaps these commands and outputs will paint a clearer picture than me trying to describe the situation.

(This command was issued after unplugging, then replugging my tablet)

Doing this command:

... and this command:
dave@example.com:~$ sudo xxd /dev/input/mouse0
... both return output when I move my tablet.
