It would not hurt to consider asking other players in the free web mail 
market to offer proper thread views. One can even play one against the 
other. How do you like to be nagged? There are ways more likely to 
produce the desired results. Consider the following sent the the right 
decision maker at Yahoo or <gag>Hotmail</gag>.

You have an opportunity to take the lead back from Gmail. 
A number of savvy first adopters are becoming increasingly 
disappointed with how Gmail works. Gmail fails to: 

   Gmail fails to follow threads correctly by using 
   References: and Message-id: header lines for doing so. 

   Gmail fails to show a Gmail user's post to a mailing list 
   in the conversation that it belongs in. Instead Gmail 
   hides it in the "Sent" folder. 

The first issue, the thread view issue, has caused the most 
consternation among Gmail users. When Gmail came out with a 1GB 
email limit, you matched it but did not get the same attention 
and credit that Gmail got. Now it's your turn to take the lead. 

This is the opportunity you can grasp to steal Gmail's thunder. 
Sure, they'll catch up after your lead, but you'll get the bulk of 
the attention and credit for being the leading-edge web mail provider. 
The first adopters who crave proper thread views will give you 
plenty of good, free publicity, bringing hoards of other users 
to view your ads.
