Extremely good book, I think. I haven't read much of it yet, but I was
reading the website on which it was based. Harrison had the first version
of this material for free perusal on linuxhomenetworking.com. He also had
more comprehensive pdf's on sale there for 5 USD a piece. Then he was
scouted by Prentice Hall. A good example of what the open source mindframe
can do. Book is very practical, no fluff at all, and perfect for someone
at intermediate level who wants to become truly proficient.

This book is the antithesis to the Microsoft MCSE books that have copious
whitespace and long lists of what the software can do and which menus you
use to do it. This book gets right down to bu'ness, and it is
CLI-centered, and it gives you the depth that you need with concrete
examples. I like it a lot.

The beginning of the book contains some basic IT background that might
lead you to think it is more newbie-oriented than it is. Flip to the
middle and you will see that it shows you how to set up a complete, though
no-frills, network.

My senpai could give a better review of linuxhomenetworking.com, if he is
listening.
