Agreed so far. However, the archives aren't restricted to TLUG
members, are they?

Anyone who takes the time to visit the tlug.jp site beforehand can
find out what the username and password are, and thus gain access to
the archives. Ergo, they're public.

The idea of the http-auth protection is to prevent non-humans from
accessing the archives, not to prevent non-TLUG-members from accessing
them.

..who, BTW, do already have access to the archives now provided they
read one web page before attempting to view them.
