Called "on-the-spot" input.  Most people do, but this is very hard,
because of the way things are implemented in separate processes---you
need to do IPC.  You may be able to configure "over-the-spot", where
the input window overlays the aterm at the spot where insertion will
occur.  Ugly, but your eyes don't have to move.  See the kinput2 docs
for how to do that.
