There's a compromise too, which fence sitter that I am, I took, used
also with OSS emulation.  :)

(Or use FreeBSD which works out of the box--well, with adding the line 
device   pcm   

to your kernel.)

[2] credit for original coiner of the phrase remains.  I think it should
