Nice work, B0Ti! Trying to get it to do just that now:

Meaning I start it up with 'im-ja-xim-server &' in .xinitrc, I suppose.
Done. It's running alright, I can see it in the process list. Unlike
kinput2 there's no need to add "-canna" or something as an option,
right?

Well, not quite. 'XMODIFIERS=@example.com=im-ja-xim-server oowriter" doesn't do
much, I'm afraid. F5, in Openoffice, is assigned for headline/body style
templates, and Shift+Space doesn't work, either. How do you get the
input for Openoffice going?

FYI, I filed a report at http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=33123
to accelerate its portage tree ascension... :)
