It's pretty rudimentary and the packages themselves are just .tgz files but
they're built to include shell scripts to move the binaries in the .tgz to
the appropriate directories and log the actions under /var/log/packages/

Quite neat if you use that kind of thing - it's a bit like RPM but without
all the bloat and drawbacks of that particular white elephant.
