Yes I did.  Good question to ask though.  I tried with LC_ALL as
Japanese, LANGUAGE and a few other variations.  My usual startup script
is LANG=C LC_CTYPE=ja_JP ${1+"$@"} & (a few other variations, including
XMODIFIERS, I just mean the usual settings.
