Again, it will make it far easier for us to help you if you tell us what
distribution you are using.  For instance if you have RedHat, there's
one way to get the programs, if you have Gentoo, another.

If the issue is vi, then possibly yes. :)

As you're apparently a newcomer to Linux, we're being a bit indulgent
here, but it's frequently difficult to help without enough information.
For instance, are you using a Japanese keyboard? An English one?  When
you say emailer, will it be kmail, sylpheed, mutt or something else?
Which browser, as some behave differently?  Have you looked at the page
that both Shawn and I mentioned?  It may answer some of the questions,
though since it just deals with the apps that I use, it won't answer
others.  (For example, I think you mentioned Evolution,  which I've
never used.)

I would say first take a look at that page and see if the scripts
mentioned there help at all.  If something isn't clear there, then tell
me, since, as it was written for the novice, if something isn't clear
it's a bug in the documentation.
