I didn't catch which Linux distro you are using. If you can use RPMs, you can
try:

http://www3.big.or.jp/~sian/linux/products/xmms/files/rpm/xmms-1.2.6j_20020123-1.i386.rpm

This same site also has source tarballs:

http://www3.big.or.jp/~sian/linux/products/xmms/

You probably want 1.2.7j:

http://www3.big.or.jp/~sian/linux/products/xmms/files/sources/xmms-1.2.7j_20030107.tar.bz2
