Been working on it all morning. Followed your suggestions: a fixed font
wasn't installed so X was crashing - quick reinstall of X, KDE didn't work
so another quick reinstall and now I have KDE up. Lovely.

Thanx very much.

I started having fun on Monday trying to use an old IBM Aptiva, RH7.1 and
7.3 installation wouldn't start because of hardware conflicts. RH 7.0
suckered me by installing but not running properly. New hardware is fine.

I was an Oracle, C, shell, awk programmer but now I'm doing sys/net admin
work. I'm quite happy doing it but rather than serving an apprentice first,
I've jumped into the deep end. And stuck out in the middle of Aichi with no
one to ask for help. I choose RH coz it was the only one I had head off.
Without the internet and good bandwidth (down loaded RH7.3 in about 4 hours)
I could do it.

No idea, the boot fails very quickly - I didn't make a note of the problem.
I'll leave that for tomorrow - save some fun for later :)
