But if this is accomplished via kernel module, the bad guys already
have root on your system.  I think you're hosed, anyway.

I don't think that has anything to do with it.  If the typical Linux
user could have as much fun with nothing more than a pitcher of beer
and as much profit with a system with ls -R / =

ash

/sbin:
init -> /bin/ash

(or however you say that in BSD) as you do, the world would be a
rather saner place.  ;-)
