[tlug] Cant receive DHCP IP

I am having trouble getting my linux(RH7.2) box to accepth an IP addy 
from the jcom server. For jcom your pc needs to have a special name. I 
put that name as the hostname, put it in /etc/hosts (although the format 
is usually
IP  HOSTNAME   ALIAS,  I left the ip out), also I put it in lmhosts.
I actually started tcpdump on my 2nd eth card, and noticed that the 
server did send the IP addy, but my box just didnt take it. I cant ping 
my hostname due to the fact that it doesnt have acorresponding IP in 
/etc/hosts.....could this be cause a problem ?
