Well, in Japan it sorta makes sense to do the email equivalent of
demon-dialing.  You see, for many providers, your email address is
your-phone-number@example.com  And it's like rental
cars: your-phone-number starts with an "area code" that screams "this
is a cellphone, spam me!"

But I can't tell the difference between US cell phones and regular
phones.
