RH's up2date

G'day all,

I have been using RH 7.1's "up2date" from time to time to keep things, er,
up-to-date. It has seemed to work fine.

Last week when I ran it, I noticed in the xterm from which it had been
launched the following:

error: cannot remove /usr/share/locale/zh_TW/LC_MESSAGES - directory not empty
error: cannot remove /usr/share/locale/zh_TW - directory not empty
error: cannot remove /usr/share/locale/el/LC_MESSAGES - directory not empty
error: cannot remove /usr/share/locale/el - directory not empty
  basename: too many arguments
Try `basename --help' for more information.
cp: cannot stat `/lib/ld-.so': No such file or directory
cp: cannot stat `/lib/libc-.so': No such file or directory
cp: cannot stat `/lib/libnsl-.so': No such file or directory
cp: cannot stat `/lib/libnss_files-.so': No such file or directory

The locale stuff doesn't worry me, but the /lib/* lines look very
worrying. Probably the script lost the version numbers of the files.
There were a heap of glibc-related rpms in the update.

Has this happened to anyone else? Any ideas who to contact in RH about
this?

Jim
