Go to ftp://ftp.lab.kdd.co.jp/internet-doc/in-notes/ and enjoy
pointing out a half-dozen RFCs.  That directory is only about 3000
files....

Agreed, if you don't need the features of a real FTP client (ie, you
have time and keystrokes to burn, or don't do much downloading),
Netscape is fine.

But some people do do enough downloading that they prefer the FTP
client.
