No one has mentioned wget yet. I find it very useful for downloads through both
http and ftp. Supports resume downloads and unlike lynx, dosnt require a tty to
run.

You can even tell it to do a recursive download of a website and specify what types
of files to get (e.g. only .iso, .jpg etc).

Im using it for website monitoring and its very effective for that.
