pine & japanese

AFAIK that's dead and gone, hasn't been updated for 4 or 5 upstream
releases.

I really recommend avoiding anything distributed as a separate patch
for Japanese. The maintainers typically do not document well or keep
up with current versions of the upstream code. A significant fraction
of the patches are are terrible code that no upstream maintainer in
his right mind would admit into the code base.

IIRC Japanized Pine will hose your German, too (Pine only speaks one
encoding at a time, basically).
