Again this is well set up on at least TurboLinux-JP and Debian.  RH-J
might do the trick too, but I can't vouch for it.

My next project is getting free of jLaTeX though.  I want Omega.

You can also use Quail (C-x C-m C-\ japanese RET, IIRC, I don't use
GNU Emacs or Quail, then C-\ to toggle henkan on and off) as a
stopgap.

What is the output of `grep canna /etc/services'?

How about `cannacheck -v'?

Maybe you could start `kinput2 -cannaserver localhost:5680'?

Yeah, they just say Canna thinks its OK, but kinput2 can't find
canna.  Thus the question about /etc/services (the port to find canna
on) and the -cannaserver flag (the host and port to find canna on).
