According to my understanding of
<http://www.metallic.co.jp/topi/20001013.html>, they used to assign
private IPs to your PCs but will switch to global IP.

They didn't outright say it is forbidden, just "We recommend you to use
the SDSL services."  Is that Japanese-speak for "don't do that on ADSL"?

Also, is there any 'catch' about the Family 640 service?  If for the
same price you can get multiple global IPs, why not?

Also, NTT-ME seems to be offering static IP ADSL.  It is slower than
Metallic but if static IP is what you want...
