Canna isn't used by default in the TL distributions that make money so
your example doesn't make any sense.  Since the source code is so old
and decrepit it would be wiser to retire it the same way Red Hat did.

Are we evil because I just "glommed" onto a Wolfram Gloger glibc
patch for a bug that I couldn't fix in several days of debugging?

Now, if you had complained about kon2, that is a *far* different
matter, and I'm not very pleased about that one.
