  Actually, my correspondent in this case is using Netscape Messenger
(probably 4.6, if memory serves).

  Anyhow, I've upgraded 'fetchmail' from 5.0.0 to 5.2.0 (5.3.0 seemed
to need a bunch of libraries I don't have - thank God for 'rpm' or I'd
probably still be trying to figure out what was wrong!).  Some time
later today I expect the message that was getting dropped to be resent.
I'll let you all know then if the upgrade did the trick.

  I was impressed all over again, by the way, with the Riken software
search engine when I was looking for my 'fetchmail' upgrade.

  Very handy and the downloads were as quick as I can expect with my
ancient modem.
