... sendmail doesn't work that way.  The delay is indeed caused by sendmail
operating in a linear mode, but there is no configuration bit to tweak to
cause sendmail to send mail in parallel.

Looks like it's time to make bulkmailer work again.  There will be several
test messages sent to the group over the next hour.
