tlug: Samba Installation

Hi All,

Thanks to those who gave help re my RedHat upgrade nightmare. I finally managed to get the thing back up on Saturday, and even got eth1 going. Last night I was also able to set up a LAN connection with my Win95 box following the IP-Masquerading HOWTO. Like my martial arts instructor says - Every setback is a chance for greater improvement.

The next step is to get Samba working so I can do file sharing.
I have followed the Samba HOWTO and set up my smb.conf file with what I think are correct values. The problem is that I cannot view the network computers (neither windows nor linux) in Network Computer in Win Explorer. All that appears is the Network Neighborhood (‘S‘Ì). When I double click on this, I get an error msg saying that it cannot 'read' the network (I forget what the Japanese is exactly).

The Win box is already networked - I can ftp, web browse, IRC, etc. So I don't know why there would be a problem seeing the network (the linux box) in Explorer. Could this have something to do with my WINS settings?

Any help appreciated.

Shawn
