I prefer the less keybindings, too. The problem with the escape codes is
why I use more for ls.

I like the idea of using the shell scripts, though. I'd never really given
thought to the fact that I couldn't call all of those nifty aliases from
other scripts. Although, on the other hand, I've never actually
needed/wanted to, so I guess that's why I've never thought about it ;-)
